Safety tips for towing in winter

Posted on: January 3rd, 2012 by towingwriter

Winter is a particularly treacherous time for anyone who drives. The bad road conditions and poor visibility can be tough to handle even for an experienced driver. But sometimes, no matter how much precaution you take, accidents are bound to occur when you least expect.

In the event that you do meet with an accident or go off the road, calling the best towing service would be your first action. Once you place a call to Xtreme towing, you can expect rapid response, no matter what time of day. Our towing services are available 24/7. While you wait, you could consider turning on all your emergency flashing lights as a warning to other vehicles. The poor visibility that caused you to go off the road may be the cause for another vehicle to rear-end you.

While waiting for the towing service, if the weather permits, stay outside your vehicle and away from any traffic. In the event of an unfortunate collision with your vehicle, you will be spared of any additional trauma. If the weather is too severe for you to venture outside, stay in your vehicle but make sure you fasten your seatbelt as this will lessen the impact of any collision.

During the winter season, consider keeping a few things in your car that would serve as a survival kit in case of any eventuality. The survival kit could include a blanket, a flashlight, energy bars, an extra pair of gloves and a bottle of water, incase you need it or if the radiator heats up. It is also recommended that you carry around 50lb of salt or any other material in the trunk. This additional weight is helpful on slippery roads. I
